Piccollage toothpaste3/25/2023 ![]() After collecting the questions, I tailored them to PicCollage and translated them to Chinese so I’d be ready to conduct interviews in either language. What helped me here was compiling a user interview question bank in advance using online resources like this one. I had a second virtual call with the User Research Lead and a recruiter to discuss the logic behind my quiz answers and complete a mock user interview in Chinese to validate a new PicCollage feature I had proposed. ![]() If you’re a UXR noob like me, these resources helped me a lot for the quiz: Nielsen Norman Group, Career Foundry and Kevin Liang 4. Yes, they want to see your technical skills. Straightforward and open-ended, the quiz evaluated how I think through research processes. The take-home quiz had eight questions divided into five sections: Research Planning, Participant Recruitment, User Feedback Analysis, and Knowledge Sharing. When the call ended, I was added to a Slack Channel and assigned a take-home quiz on Google Docs that I had 15 days to complete. One intern made a lasting impression on a PicCollage recruiter by asking about the company’s response to the Black Lives Matter movement. If there is something you are genuinely curious about, don’t be afraid to ask. ![]() They wanted to know who I was as a whole person with questions like: “What’s something you’re learning right now?”. Overall, it felt less like an interview and more like a casual chat examining cultural fit. I was also asked to brainstorm three questions I’d ask a user of my favorite product/service. We discussed the roles I applied for, previous experiences, hobbies, etc.
